Here's what we learned:
1) Did you know Frosty the Snowman was present at the birth of Jesus? According to the presentation last night, he was. If you don't have a snowman in your nativity scene, it's woefully inaccurate and incomplete.
2) We need a new camera, one that is capable of taking photos in low light levels and from far away, as evidenced by this picture below.
3) If your plan to get your kid's attention from the audience is to wave and say "Over here!" it's probably not going to be very effective since EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING THE SAME THING! We told Abby to look for the parents that weren't waiving like complete idiots. She found us in 3 seconds.
4) Props can make or break a performance. Putting a reindeer head on a pole and strutting it around while kids sing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" isn't festive. It's creepy. It looks like Santa decapitated the rogue reindeer and stuck his head on a pike as a warning to the others (Also, if you do this and have the kids sing through the song two times, you can't be upset when certain parents break out laughing uncontrollably).
5) When you invite former pre-school "alumni" up to the stage to sing the final song, don't make your 17 year old kid go up there. This poor guy's mom practically pushed him on stage. New rule: If you can shave and seen an R-rated movie, you don't have to sing at your pre-school anymore.
6) Finally, Abby is a great performer, smiling and singing all the words. She's even able to inconspicuously sneak in wiping her nose with the hand motions, which is a trick I believe Meryl Streep uses often.
