Pride Problems? Try Having Kids.

Nothing keeps your ego in check like having kids. For example:

Exhibit A
I currently have a small blemish on my forehead (some might call it a pimple, but those people are inconsiderate jerks). Abby saw it and here's how the conversation went.

Abilene (pointing to the top of my head): Daddy, what's that?
Me (hoping to divert her attention): What, my hair?
Abilene: No, no, what is that?!
Me: Um...go away.

Exhibit B
Brody is in the parrot-stage of life, repeating everything he hears. So, we've attempted to teach him there are some words that he shouldn't say. Sometimes it comes back to bite us.

Me (commenting on something so obviously stupid that it demands to be called as such): That's stupid.
Brody (in a very condescending 4-year-old tone): Daddy, we don’t say stupid.
Me: Um…go away.

Exhibit C
Well, Lorena can’t talk yet, so she hasn’t degraded my usual cavalier arrogance.

Today, she’s my favorite.
